To qualify for M&A Deal of the Year, Corporate/Strategic Deal of the Year, Cross Border Deal of the Year, Private Equity Deal of the Year, Restructuring Deal of the Year, Deal Financing of the Year, and Sector Deal of the Year, the transaction must adhere to the following criteria:

Example 1: If the transaction Acquisition of Con Edison by
Sinopec is nominated for M&A Deal of the Year, Corporate/Strategic Acquisition of the Year and Sector Deal
of The Year, the fee will be calculated as follows:

Example 2: If ABC Company is nominated for Firm of the Year, the fee will be
calculated as follows:

There are multiple ways a deal, firm, product/service or professional can be nominated: (a) self-nominations; (b) nominated by your collegue; or (c) client nominations.
The process for submission is as follows:
Award nominations are submitted from the field during a months-long open nomination period. The M&A Advisor Awards research team uses real-time and historical information to vet the nominations. Nomination are managed, and evaluations conducted, in a secure data room using exclusive and trusted technology to ensure that all nominations are processed and evaluated securely and confidentially.
Nominations are evaluated by an independent committee of business leaders, chosen for their expertise and experience in M&A, restructuring and financing. The judges evaluate and score the nominations to select a winner in each award category. The committee membership evolves with each successive Awards program. Each nomination has 3 essay questions on which most of the evaluation score will depend, as outlined below. All essay questions have word limits of 100-word minimum and 250-word maximum.
Nominations for Deals of the Year (M&A Deal of the Year, Corporate/Strategic Deal of the Year, Cross Border Deal of the Year, Private Equity Deal of the Year, Restructuring Deal of the Year, Deal Financing of the Year, and Sector Deals of the Year) will be judged on the following criteria:
Completeness and adherence to nomination form instructions (10% of the score).
Nominations for Firms of the Year will be judged on the following criteria:

The M&A Advisor and its independent judges will maintain the strictest confidentiality for all entries. Upon the selection of Award Finalists and Winners, only the transaction name, product/service name, professional, and firm names will be publicized. While there may be a dollar range specified for transactions, financing, and restructuring awards categories, the actual value will not be published at any time.
The Thomas Farrell Memorial Award honors M&A professionals who embody the late Tom Farrell’s enduring passion for dealmaking, his leadership in business development, and his sustained career success. Now in its 8th year, the Award celebrates individuals who have worked in the industry for at least 10 years and exemplify Farrell’s spirited and inspirational approach to the M&A profession. The Award will be presented at the 2026 Future of Dealmaking Summit alongside the 25th Annual M&A Advisor Awards. In honor of Tom’s vast contributions, Generational Equity underwrites the Award, and thus there are no nomination fees. Each nomination includes biographical details, a headshot, and answers to short essay questions. Judging is conducted by an independent panel of industry leaders who evaluate candidates based on professional accomplishments, community involvement, and overall impact.
